The two words any water professional or homeowner never wants to hear are, “dry well”. Maybe it’s because as a homeowner you have no control over a well going dry or maybe it’s because it may mean big money to repair or replace it.

A well-running dry is not a common occurrence in New Hampshire and Massachusetts, but it is not unheard of. If you’ve noticed lots of air in the water system, that you are running out of water after heavy usage, like watering the lawn, or your water pressure is very low, your well could be running dry. Homeowners today have a number of options when it comes to replacing a dry well wells, but first, they must determine if the well has actually run dry or if the problem is caused by a mechanical failure.

Turning on the faucet and seeing water come out is something most of us take for granted, but when it comes to building or purchasing a new well system, adequate water supply is a major consideration.

When homeowners see a drop in their water pressure, they usually assume it’s mechanical. Maybe the pressure tank isn’t working, or the plumbing system is out of date, they think.

Flow may seem like a simple term, but it is an important way for well professionals to determine whether a well can adequately meet a family’s needs.
